On Monday 11 June, Joseph O’Neil attended an oil and gas conference at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Aberdeen, which was held as part of the 2018 Ghanaian trade mission to Scotland. Organised by The Petroleum Commission of Ghana together with the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) and Scottish Development International (SDI), the event offered valuable insights into the opportunities that the oil and gas sector in Ghana offers, as well as useful tips for doing business in the country.
In total, 49 companies travelled from Ghana, with many of them interested in partnership opportunities with their Scottish counterparts. With Ghana constituting a realistic location for a future Sub-Sahara African Oil & Gas Hub, this event represented an excellent opportunity to network with attending delegates throughout the afternoon and evening, with some of the delegates visiting KELTON later in the week.
Sharing one of the best known parts of Scottish culture, there was also time for the trade mission delegates to visit a Scottish whisky distillery in the Highlands towards the end of their stay. We wish all attending delegates a safe journey back to Ghana.
