As KELTON continues to grow as a business, so does our little team at home in Aberdeen. Brought in to support our busy Business Development Manager Joseph O’Neil, we are delighted to welcome Hamish MacDonald to our team as Sales Engineer.
After graduating with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in 2017, Hamish joined Emerson Automation Solutions’ Inside Sales Internship programme. He then continued his employment as a Flow Sales Engineer, developing his technical expertise and knowledge of the oil and gas industry, before joining KELTON earlier this month.
“This role was the perfect fit for my career aspirations and offers the flexibility I wanted in order to fulfil my personal ambitions”, Hamish says. “As a smaller company, KELTON can react and adapt quickly to the caprices of the oil and gas industry, both foreign and domestic, which is really important in today’s economic climate.”
Hamish has settled into The Mackenzie building remarkably quickly: “Everyone in the team has been warm and very friendly, and I already feel at home in my new surroundings. The office is in a great location, and the coffee is excellent, which is a huge plus for when I am not on the road!”
Over the coming weeks and months, clients and contacts in the industry will see a lot more of Hamish: “After a busy first couple of weeks with lots of inductions, I will be attending the North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop in Tonsberg, Norway, from 22-25 October, where I will be exhibiting with Joseph O’Neil. Beyond that, I have also been tasked with implementing changes to our CRM system, and I am looking forward to making it work better for clients and KELTON personnel alike.”
In his free time, Hamish enjoys hiking, a good workout in the gym, and – true to his Scottish roots – a fine glass of whisky. He also happens to be conversational in Gaelic, glè dhrùidhteach!
So, what is he looking forward to the most in his new role? “Getting out there and talking to customers! I have predominantly been in an inside sales role until now, so the opportunity to get out and meet our customers; forging new relationships and nurturing existing ones is something that appeals to me – I can’t wait to get started!”
Hamish and Joseph will be exhibiting at the North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop from 22-25 October in Tonsberg, so make sure to pop round and say hi to them at Stand #20.
